Scia Engineer 2010

Postby burak » 18 Jan Mon, 2010 10:54 pm

Hi,
I have just installed Scia 2010 demo version. On the "Protection Setup" menu, what should I do to use Scia engineer trial mode or student version. There is a "licence server path" and it is empty. Should i write there a path way or not.

Thanks!

Dear Barak,

I'm a bit puzzled as we do not have Scia Engineer 2010 in demo version anymore and I wonder where and how you got it.

We have some kind of 30 days tryout version but you will need to have a local Flexnet softlock to make this work. This version needs to be activated first.

In order to get such a tryout key, you will need to contact your local Scia sales engineer.
see: http://www.scia-online.com/en/contact.html
This version is not available for students. Students need to install the Scia Engineer 2009 for students license. http://www.scia-campus.com

Dear Francis,

Here is not a situation that may require you to be puzzled. I have got demo version of the Scia Engineer 2010 from our local Nemetschek seller's site -secured downloading zone-, FGA Mimarlık. As you can see it from http://www.fga.com.tr So, I guess there is no illegal action bound up with me. Whatever, after downloading Scia 2010 Demo, I met the "protection setup" screen. And, I mentioned that before, there is few options which are, "Student-Standalone-Floating-First Floating than Standalone-Trial". And normally i choose Student version, and clicked Apply. After this, I retried but it failed. Then I stared the empty line below which is named "Pathway" (localserver or whatever is). As far as i know from using Scia Engineer 2009 Student Version, I wrote there 7182@student.scia-online.com but did not work. Then I tried Trial option, but didn't either. If you have no student option in Scia 2010 why there is a choice of student version?! By the way, after trying these options -or installing flexnet- my Student version of Scia turned itseft to the trial mode. And I couldnt return it back. -Except uninstalling software and all its registry entries- So, dear Francis, please tell me, I wonder about "what I was doing wrong?" By the way, the student licence you mentioned, me and my colleagues, we filled the student licence application form before, three or four times, but no one turned us back. Ohh, I'm sorry, you turned us actually a big NOTHING. We are here as a MSc. students as a PostGraduate students as a PhD. students, as a Lecturers....(etc) to use and to universalize your product. I dont know why do you act like blink. I wonder that this is negligence or segregetion?

If you have any suggestions for me about that I will be grateful to you dear Francis.

With All Respect,
Burak A. (Structural Engineer, MSc.)

Dear Burak,

You will not succeed running this version of Scia Engineer 2010 as a student version, nor as a trial.
Version 2010 always needs a software lock key (flexNet) or a dongle, as well in tryout mode as in student mode.

The student version 2010 will become available in a few weeks. We are now working on an automatic system to send out these local software keys and installation instructions by email. When this is ready we will launch Scia Engineer 2010 for Students. There will be no way of sending such a soft key manually.

In the meantime you can download Scia Engineer 2009 from the campus. When registering you wil get a confirmation page with the download links and installation guide. Please note that for 2009 no email whatsoever will be send. You will need to bookmark this page.

The error is that FGA is offering this Scia Engineer 2010 version as downloadable demo software. We will inform them that this will never work without a key.

Kind Regards,

Dear Francis,

At first, here is no doubt in my mind about the version differences and licences from now on. Thank you for your advice and helpful suggestions about that. And so your clear explanations. Now, as a passionate follower of the Scia Engineer, i want you to inform us about the Student version of v10.0.78 and want you to send us -even to Turkey- a local software key. I 'm looking forward to getting v2010 and can not wait to have it.

In case of Scia Engineer 2009 Student version, I need to say that the information page of download, i mean the page in campus, is not descriptive. Because, in the application form of the student licence, there is an expression below the e-mail form which says "This address will be used to send you a license activation file, make sure it's correct." So, I -maybe lots of us- thougt after filling form and downloading the program, Scia will send us an activation licence. That's the event why i was complained.

Finally, I thank you again for informing our seller FGA about their misunderstanding. And, if I was in an inpolite behaviour on my previous message, I apologize you due to my diatribe.

Best Regards,
Burak Alkan

Dear Burak,

Thank you for your feedback and indeed it's our mistake. The mentioning of "This address will be used to send you a license activation file, make sure it's correct." should not have been used here. In fact we initially planned to release the student version with release 2010, using the soft lock to be sent by email, but at the end we decided to launch Scia Engineer 2009 first and to work with a remote flexLM key at port xxx.

Sorry for this misunderstanding.

The planning is to have 2010 ready for students around 15/02. All current users will receive an email with new upgrade instructions.

Cheers,
Francis

Hello,
Enter this site; http://www.scia-online.com/en/education-registration.html and choose Scia Engineer 2010 at the license selection tab when you fill the download form. Be sure insert your e-mail address correct, because Scia 2010 is working with "only" license activation file that will be sent your e-mail by Scia..

Hope this helps..
